Yesterday, Natatia Bledsoe, p ublic information officer for the city police, reported on the latest parking lot crime at the hospital. Bledsoe said that a Newport News resident returned to his car to find a broken window. “Items of value” were stolen from the vehicle, Bledsoe said. While police were investigating, they found three other vehicles with similar damage and thefts.
Every day in Nashville and throughout Tennessee, innocent people become the victims of violent crimes. “While we were there we saw a suspicious car parked across the street — a woman was behind the wheel and a man was sitting in the back seat, diagonal from the woman. It looked to me like he was too big to be in the back, like his head was up against the ceiling of the car. It looked like, if he wanted to, he could have jumped out of the back, run into the parking lot, smashed a window, grabbed some things from a car and the woman could have pulled around to pick him up. He could easily jump into the backseat while she drives off,” said the victim.
On December 18th, police in Moraine, Ohio were searching for a man who robbed a 62-year-old woman at gunpoint in a Wal-Mart parking lot. Police said the man pointed a gun at the woman and demanded that she turn over her purse.
Of course, the most significant issue related to parking lot garages is the safety issue. All too often, there are stories in the news about people who have been assaulted in parking lot garages. Sadly, it’s usually the same parking lot garages.
